We offer a two-year*, full-time residency for recent master's level graduates in the mental health field looking to gain experience and fulfill their hours for clinical licensure in the state of Illinois. Upon completion of the residency, individuals may be eligible to apply for continued employment at Siv based on availability and completion of clinical licensure.
Training Experience
Our two-year post-graduate residency experience is a full-time salaried position designed to provide individuals with a wide range of opportunities foundational to furthering their professional development beyond the classroom and into the next stage of their career training. Our training model also provides residents with the distinct opportunity to engage in the practical integration of faith, spiritual, and existential perspectives in clinical practice.
Through hands-on partnership with our team of supervisors, clinicians, and staff, residents develop advanced competency in the areas of case conceptualization, clinical documentation, treatment planning, outcome evaluation and practical theoretical application. We provide the opportunity to receive direct client hours to a diverse range of clients including children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couples, family, and group counseling modalities. Residents also engage in community outreach through our partnership programs and have the amazing opportunity to develop experiences that are unique to their passions, giftings, and interests.
Community Outreach
A unique aspect of our training program includes the opportunity to engage in community mental health care through our local partnerships. In addition to working out of our main office in River West, residents will serve weekly at one of our satellite locations through our local church partnerships, offering a diverse range of client services to members of the surrounding neighborhood community that typically do not have access to affordable, quality mental health care.
Growth and Development
As part of their training experience, residents are provided with a minimum of one hour weekly individual supervision, one and a half hour weekly professional development and case consultation group, access to ongoing learning and enrichment opportunities. Supervision at every level is based on an integrative developmental/relationship model focused on skill building, solution-focused and motivation treatment techniques, enhancing multicultural competency, and engagement of critical thinking and self-exploration. We also emphasize wholistic well-being, somatic experiencing, and trauma-informed interventions.
