Master’s Level Counseling Internship
We offer a one-year clinical mental health counseling internship to MA students completing their required pre-graduate Practicum and Internship clinical training.
Training Experience
Our clinical residents experience a wide range of opportunities foundational to their ongoing professional development. Our training model also provides residents with the unique opportunity to engage in the practical integration of faith, spiritual, and existential perspectives in clinical practice.
Through hands-on partnership with our team of supervisors, clinicians, and staff, residents develop basic competency in the areas of case conceptualization, clinical documentation, treatment planning, outcome evaluation and practical theoretical application. We provide the opportunity to receive direct client hours to a diverse range of clients including children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couples, family, and group counseling modalities. Residents will be expected to complete a minimum of 700 hours of supervised professional experience, with a minimum of 280 hours allocated to direct client service.
Community Outreach
A unique aspect of our training program includes the opportunity to engage in community mental health care through our local partnerships. In addition to working out of our main office in River West, residents will serve weekly at one of our satellite locations through our local church partnerships, offering a diverse range of client services to members of the surrounding neighborhood community that typically do not have access to affordable, quality mental health care.
Growth and Development
As part of their training experience, residents are provided with a minimum of one hour weekly individual supervision, one and a half hour weekly staff development and case consultation group, access to ongoing learning and enrichment opportunities, one-on-one mentorship with a licensed professional, and access to an on-site supervisor at all times when providing direct client care. Supervision at every level is based on an integrative developmental/relationship model focused on skill building, solution-focused and motivation treatment techniques, enhancing multicultural competency, and engagement of critical thinking and self-exploration.
